PRACTICAL ENGINEERING

Generation, storage and control — working together.

WHAT WE DO

More than generation.
Making energy useful.

RHD Scotland combines hands-on renewable energy installation with specialist electrical, automation and monitoring expertise.

We work across the full energy chain: generating electricity, integrating storage, controlling equipment and understanding how energy is used on site.

01 / SOLAR PV & BATTERY STORAGE

From planning to long-term performance.

RHD Scotland provides a complete solar PV installation service, from initial planning and liaison with the Distribution Network Operator (DNO), through installation and commissioning, to ongoing maintenance.

We also install battery storage systems and can integrate generation and storage with the wider electrical infrastructure and energy management requirements of a site.

02 / MICRO HYDROELECTRIC

Controls built around the installation.

RHD Scotland has designed and installed bespoke control systems for micro hydroelectric schemes rated below 100 kW at more than 20 sites.

Our work brings together control hardware, PLC programming, instrumentation and monitoring to suit the operating requirements of each individual scheme.

03 / ENERGY OPTIMISATION

Hot water as a practical energy store.

Dairy operations can have substantial demand for hot water, often at different times from periods of renewable generation. RHD Scotland has been involved in energy optimisation and hot-water thermal storage systems for dairies with high process demand.

By coordinating generation, heating and stored hot water, bespoke control systems can help make useful heat available when the process needs it. The approach is sometimes described as a “hot water battery”.

CONTROL & MONITORING

Engineering behind the energy.

Generation and storage are only part of the picture. RHD develops bespoke controls and monitoring to connect equipment with real operating requirements.
